Dating back to 1541, this grand property has an illustrious history being the former home of the Sabran family, whose four daughters married the kings of of France, England, Prussia and Italy.
It consists of the main Chateau as well as three independent cottages, a central swimming pool and multilevel terraced gardens. Sleeping up to 22 people, it is perfect for large family gatherings and special occasions.
Built by an Italian Renaissance architect, there are 10 king size bedrooms all with separate bathrooms and toilets, while three of the bedrooms, including the master bedroom, have private terraces.
Inside the main Chateau there is over 800 square metres of living space with large communal living areas (with a 16th century fireplace), a family room with a billiard table and TV, dining room with its own large terrace for dining alfresco, and a well-equipped kitchen that opens out onto the garden, teeming with flowers and fresh herbs.
The Chateau is furnished in a traditional yet opulent French aristocratic style with genuine antiques, tapestries and murals, however it does not compromise modern living with renovated bathrooms, WiFi and Sonos sound system throughout the property and around the pool.
The outdoor area is equally as impressive with manicured gardens stretching between the cottages and pool, dotted with shrubs and fruit trees. Sun loungers and chairs surround the large swimming pool, while both the garden and swimming area can be lit up at night.
For outdoor entertaining there is a barbecue on the lawn as well as a summer kitchen with a vaulted stone ceiling and pizza oven, and a dining terrace with chairs and tables.
The Chateau has many staircases and steep drops from terraces so unfortunately it is not suitable for those with mobility problems or small children unless very well supervised.
20 minutes north from Avignon, the Chateau is central to the village of St. Victor La Coste, which is a charming town overlooking the Rhone Valley. Within the village there is a general store, tabac, post office, bakers, pharmacy, doctor, small school, restaurant, bar, beautician and hairdresser.
